2-YEAR-OLD DIES AFTER SUFFERING BRAIN BLEED AND SWELLING; MOTHER AND BOYFRIEND ARRESTED
Myria Nicole Anderson was only 2 years old, with an entire childhood still waiting ahead of her.
Instead, the Oklahoma toddler was rushed to a hospital after being found without a pulse and unable to breathe, beginning a heartbreaking case that has now resulted in two arrests.
Her grieving family is demanding answers about what happened to Myria and whether more could have been done to protect her.
Shortly after 7:10 p.m. on August 15, 2026, Edmond police were called to Oak Ridge Estates after receiving a report involving a 2-year-old child who was not breathing.
Emergency responders arrived and reportedly found Myria without a pulse, immediately beginning life-saving measures.
A pulse was eventually restored while she was being transported to OU Children’s Hospital.

Doctors soon discovered that Myria had suffered devastating injuries.
According to an arrest affidavit, a CT scan revealed bleeding in her brain along with brain swelling.
Despite emergency medical care, Myria died on August 18, leaving her loved ones facing an unimaginable loss.
Investigators quickly began examining what happened during the hours before Myria became unresponsive.
Police said 26-year-old Joseph Chlebanowski told detectives that he had been alone with Myria and her siblings after her mother left for work at approximately 3:30 p.m.
Investigators ultimately identified Chlebanowski as the only adult present with Myria during the period when authorities believe the critical injuries occurred.

According to court documents, Myria’s mother, Zyria Walker, told investigators that Chlebanowski called her shortly after 7 p.m.
She said he sounded hysterical and told her Myria was gurgling, struggling to breathe and had suffered a nosebleed.
Walker reportedly told police that nosebleeds were extremely unusual for her daughter.
Walker instructed Chlebanowski to hang up and call 911 while she also contacted emergency services and began leaving work.
By the time responders reached the home, Myria was already in critical condition.
What doctors found at the hospital would soon raise even more troubling questions.

Medical personnel reportedly documented new marks and bruises on Myria’s body when she arrived on August 15.
That detail became especially significant because Myria had been treated at the same hospital only three days earlier.
Hospital staff had documented her condition during that previous visit, allowing them to compare what they saw before and after the August 15 emergency.
Walker had taken Myria to OU Children’s Hospital on August 12 for injuries involving her arm and face, according to the affidavit.
Medical workers later told investigators that some of the bruises and marks seen on August 15 had not been present during the earlier examination.
Investigators therefore began focusing closely on what happened during the three days between those hospital visits.

Myria had reportedly been evaluated at another hospital even earlier.
On August 9, Walker brought her to Mercy Hospital and reportedly told medical staff that Myria had fallen from a toilet.
A CT scan performed during that visit was said to have shown no acute brain injury.
Only six days later, the CT scan performed at OU Children’s Hospital revealed the brain bleed and swelling.
Emergency room personnel reportedly told investigators that symptoms connected to the new injury would have appeared immediately.
That medical assessment became a critical part of the probable-cause case investigators were building.

Detectives interviewed Chlebanowski while Walker remained with Myria at the hospital.
According to police, investigators concluded that he had been the only adult caring for Myria when the injuries believed to have caused her sudden collapse occurred.
Chlebanowski was arrested on allegations of child abuse by injury and booked into the Oklahoma County Jail on a $10 million bond.
The investigation did not end with his arrest.
On August 25, Walker was also booked into the Oklahoma County Jail as the case continued to develop.
She faces an allegation of child abuse by injury, and both defendants are entitled to the presumption of innocence unless proven guilty in court.

For Myria’s father and other relatives, however, the arrests have not answered every question.
Family members have publicly claimed that they had worried about Myria’s safety long before she was hospitalized for the final time.
They say they had repeatedly tried to alert people in authority about injuries they believed needed closer attention.
According to social-media statements from Myria’s relatives, she had previously been removed from the care of her father, Davonta Anderson, before later being returned to her mother.
The family claims Myria sometimes returned from visits with bruises, marks and other unexplained injuries.
They say they photographed what they saw and reported their concerns during the custody process.

Relatives have specifically alleged that Myria had previously suffered a black eye and what they described as an injured nose.
They claim those concerns were communicated to both the court and the Oklahoma Department of Human Services.
The family now wants to know exactly what was documented, investigated and decided after those reports were made.
Those claims about previous custody proceedings and the response from DHS have not yet been fully established through publicly available records.
The complete history of Myria’s custody case has also not been released.
For that reason, allegations that officials ignored specific warnings remain claims from family members rather than established findings.
Still, those relatives say they are determined to keep asking questions.
They want to understand whether there were opportunities to intervene before Myria suffered the injuries that ultimately ended her life.
For them, accountability means examining not only the final hours of her life but everything that happened before them.

Myria’s bonus mother has written publicly about the deep bond she shared with the toddler.
She described helping raise Myria alongside Davonta from the time she was very young and said she considered the little girl her own daughter.
Her words reflected the devastating grief of someone who had imagined watching Myria grow up.
When Myria was first hospitalized, her family asked people to pray for healing, strength and a miracle.
They hoped the 2-year-old would somehow recover despite the seriousness of her injuries.
After her death, those prayers became a promise to continue fighting for answers in her name.

Myria was born on November 6, 2023, and had not yet reached her third birthday.
Her obituary remembers her as a deeply loved daughter, sister and little girl whose smile touched those around her.
Her family now faces birthdays, holidays and ordinary days that will arrive without her.
She should have had years of playgrounds, school pictures, birthday cakes and bedtime stories ahead of her.
She should have been given the chance to discover her favorite things, make friends and become the person she was meant to be.
Instead, the people who loved her are preparing to say goodbye while a criminal investigation continues.

The charges against Chlebanowski and Walker will now move through the court system, where evidence will determine what can legally be proven.
At the same time, Myria’s relatives say they will continue seeking information about how earlier concerns involving the child were handled.
Their questions are unlikely to disappear simply because arrests have been made.
At the center of every affidavit, court filing and investigation is a 2-year-old girl whose life was far too short.
Myria Nicole Anderson was more than a case number or a name connected to criminal charges.
She was a child who was loved, remembered and deserved the chance to grow up.

Her family says they fought for her while she was alive, and now they intend to continue fighting for her after her death.
They want her story remembered and the circumstances surrounding her final days fully examined.
Most of all, they want the world to remember that Myria was still just a baby.
Rest peacefully, sweet Myria Nicole Anderson. 🕊️💗
May those who loved you carry your smile, your memory and every precious moment they shared with you for the rest of their lives.
Your life was short, but to your family, your life mattered more than words can ever express.
