Maks Chmerkovskiy and Peta Murgatroyd Tease New Dance Project After Move to Florida
Maks Chmerkovskiy and Peta Murgatroyd hinted that they’d be a part of a new dance project three months after they moved their family to Florida: “See y’all soon.”
Maks Chmerkovskiy and Peta Murgatroyd can only keep their dancing shoes off for so long.
Three months after the former Dancing with the Stars pros detailed their cross country move from California to Florida, they revealed they’re not done dominating the dance floor just yet.
In a video shared to their Instagram pages Sept. 21, the pair—who share kids Shai, 9, Rio, 3, and Milan, 2—proved they still go it as they danced a sensual duet in a dance studio together.
In the beginning of the clip, Chmerkovskiy—donning a white button-up shirt, black flowy pants, a backwards hat and what appear to be tap shoes—set the mood by turning on Tom Waits’ 1987 track “Way Down in the Hole” before taking a sip out of a mug and spitting on the ground to dust off his new kicks.
He then made his way over to Murgatroyd, who sported an all-black ensemble for the dance session, before planting a kiss on her lips
The couple then got down to business as they danced to the track. Suggesting this is just the beginning of what’s to come next, they cheekily captioned the video, “Mom and Dad are back…and back at it! See y’all soon.”
Naturally, the dance community went wild.
“Love it,” Jenna Johnson, who is married to Chmerkovskiy’s brother Val Chmerkovskiy, commented alongside fire and heart eye emojis, while fellow DWTS pro Sharna Burgess chimed in, “SO FIRE I LOVE YOU BOTH!!!”

“Leaving behind the place we’d called home for so many years wasn’t easy, but sometimes the biggest leaps lead you exactly where you’re meant to be,” Murgatroyd, 40, wrote in a joint Instagram post June 29. “The happiness, the slower pace, the sunshine, watching our boys love every second of it… it’s everything we hoped for and more.”
“Worth every box. Every goodbye. Every unknown,” she continued alongside a video of the family dancing together in their new backyard. “No looking back… only looking forward.“

In fact, Murgatroyd noted on her Instagram Stories Aug. 21 that while friends of the couple have told them they’re “gonna come back to Cali” soon, the mom of three thinks otherwise.
Indeed, while California “will always be a home,” Murgatroyd emphasized that “right now, this is what our fam needs. We are loving every second. It’s the best.”
