Colin Farrell<\/strong>\u00a0is a proud dad of two sons:\u00a0James<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Henry<\/strong>.<\/p>\n The Irish actor welcomed his oldest son in 2003 with ex-girlfriend\u00a0Kim Bordenave<\/strong>. Four years later, in 2007, he revealed that James was diagnosed with Angelman Syndrome, a rare neurogenetic disorder that can cause \u201cdelayed development, problems with speech and balance, mental disability and, sometimes, seizures,\u201d according to\u00a0the Mayo Clinic.<\/p>\n People who are diagnosed with Angelman Syndrome typically live an average lifespan, and symptoms begin to become noticeable in a child\u2019s first year of life.<\/p>\n In April 2025,\u00a0Colin shared\u00a0that he and Bordenave made the decision to move James to a long-term care facility that can assist the pair as they continue to make the best possible medical decisions for their son.<\/p>\n We want him to find somewhere where he can have a full and happy life, where he feels connected,\u201d Colin explained. \u201cBy going out in the van every day and going to the supermarket and doing the shopping together. By going to the beach, museums, movies, all that stuff. Just a connected life.\u201dColin welcomed his second son, Henry, in October 2009 with then-girlfriend\u00a0Alicja Bachleda-Cur\u00fas<\/strong>. The pair split four months later, and\u00a0Warner married actor\u00a0Jamie Dornan in 2013.<\/p>\n Colin and Canadian-American model Kim Bordenave started dating in 2002. The pair welcomed their son a year later, in 2003, but split up shortly after.<\/p>\n Bordenave spent several years working as an international model. After she and Colin separated, she married Jim Gamboa and the pair\u00a0founded THERAsurf\u00a0in 2010, a nonprofit that gives children with disabilities and developmental challenges the opportunity to learn to surf in an accessible way.<\/p>\n In 2016, Bordenave filed for divorce from Gamboa, but\u00a0the most recent update\u00a0on the case appears to indicate the filing was dismissed.<\/p>\n Colin and Bordenave welcomed their son James in September 2003. While the pair\u2019s relationship didn\u2019t last, their dedication to their son has been unwavering.<\/p>\n In 2007, Colin revealed James was diagnosed with Angelman Syndrome, a rare neurogenetic disorder that often includes developmental delays, speech impairment and balance concerns.<\/p>\n \u201cI have never thought of my son as being someone with a disability,\u201d Colin told the\u00a0Irish Independent\u00a0<\/em>at the time. \u201cIt goes back to special needs and what is a disability and what isn\u2019t.\u201d<\/p>\n Colin has continued to open up about how the disorder impacts James over the years. \u201cThings like walking and talking and eating and feeding himself, all those things that so many of us naturally take for granted because they come so easily, to James, they come somewhat harder,\u201d he told\u00a0People<\/em>\u00a0in 2013<\/p>\n In an\u00a0interview with\u00a0Candis Magazine<\/em>\u00a0published in April 2025, Colin revealed he and Bordenave had made the decision to move James into a long-term care facility. \u201cIt\u2019s tricky \u2014 some parents will say, \u2018I want to take care of my child myself,\u2019 and I respect that.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cMy horror would be, what if I have a heart attack tomorrow, and, God forbid, James\u2019 mother, Kim, has a car crash and she\u2019s taken too \u2014 and then James is on his own?\u201d the actor noted. \u201c[He\u2019d be] a ward of the state. And he goes where? We\u2019d have no say in it.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cWe want him to find somewhere where he can have a full and happy life, where he feels connected,\u201d Colin added. \u201cBy going out in the van every day and going to the supermarket and doing the shopping together.
