She graduated in 1981 after receiving formal training in theater and performance.

Rather than immediately becoming a major movie star, Kozlowski spent the early part of her career building experience on stage and working toward opportunities in television and film.

That period helped establish the foundation for the career that would follow.

An Important Early Role

One of her notable early appearances came in the 1985 television adaptation of Arthur Miller’s Death of a Salesman.

The production starred Dustin Hoffman and received considerable attention, giving Kozlowski an opportunity to work alongside established performers.

A year later, however, her career would change dramatically.

The Movie That Made Her Famous

In 1986, Kozlowski appeared opposite Paul Hogan in Crocodile Dundee.

She played Sue Charlton, a journalist who travels to Australia and becomes involved with the film’s central character, Mick Dundee.

The movie became a major international success and developed into one of the best-known comedies of its era.

Kozlowski returned as Sue Charlton for Crocodile Dundee II in 1988. She later appeared in Crocodile Dundee in Los Angeles in 2001.

The role remained the defining achievement of her film career and introduced her to audiences across the world.

Why She Didn’t Continue Making Movies at the Same Pace

Reaching Hollywood success does not necessarily mean an actor wants to remain in the spotlight forever.

Kozlowski eventually became more selective about the projects she considered. In interviews over the years, she discussed her decision to step away from acting rather than continue accepting roles that did not interest her.

Her career therefore followed a different pattern from the typical Hollywood trajectory.

Instead of constantly pursuing another major movie, she gradually shifted her attention toward other parts of her life.

Her Family Life

Kozlowski married Paul Hogan in 1990 after the two worked together on Crocodile Dundee.

The couple had one son, Chance, and their family life attracted media attention during their years together.

Kozlowski and Hogan later divorced in 2014.

Following the end of their marriage, Kozlowski continued developing a life outside the traditional Hollywood environment.

A New Chapter in Travel

One of the most interesting developments in Kozlowski’s later life has been her connection to Morocco.

After spending time traveling and exploring the country, she became involved in the travel industry and worked on experiences designed around visiting Morocco.

The transition represented a significant change from acting.

Instead of performing for audiences, she became involved in helping travelers experience a different culture and environment.

Life Away From the Hollywood Spotlight

It can be easy to assume that an actor who stops appearing regularly in movies has somehow vanished.

Kozlowski’s story suggests something different.

She had already achieved one of the milestones many performers spend their entire careers pursuing. After that, she chose to devote more attention to personal interests, travel, family, and business.

Stepping away from Hollywood did not erase her earlier achievements.

If anything, it gave her the freedom to define the next stage of her life on her own terms.

The Lasting Legacy of Sue Charlton

Decades after Crocodile Dundee was released, Sue Charlton remains one of Linda Kozlowski’s most recognizable roles.

The film continues to be remembered as an important international comedy of the 1980s, while Kozlowski’s performance helped establish her as a familiar face to audiences around the world.

For viewers discovering the movie today, her career can be a reminder that a successful acting career does not have to follow a single formula.

Some performers remain in front of the camera for their entire lives. Others decide that they want to explore completely different opportunities.

A Career That Took an Unexpected Turn

Linda Kozlowski’s journey is ultimately about more than one famous movie.

She trained at Juilliard, worked in theater and television, became internationally recognized through Crocodile Dundee, and eventually moved toward a quieter life involving travel and other interests.

Her decision to step away from Hollywood shows that success can have different definitions at different stages of life.

For fans who remember her from the 1980s, she remains closely connected to one of that decade’s most recognizable films.

But her story didn’t end when the cameras stopped rolling.

Instead, she simply began a different chapter.

From Connecticut to Juilliard Linda Kozlowski was born on January 7, 1958, in Fairfield, Connecticut.
