Having kids is a very personal decision. For some, they end up being the light of their lives – making every day just that little bit better. But, for others, kids can be more of a chore than anything else, so they don’t want them.<\/p>\n
And it turns out country star Carly Pearce is pretty staunchly in that second camp. As reported by\u00a0Taste of Country<\/em>, she got candid on why she doesn’t want kids in response to a fan’s comment on social media.<\/p>\n “I don’t want children, I’m totally okay with that,” she explained in a video posted online. She said that she was super comfortable with her decision – and criticized societal norms of parenthood.<\/p>\n “I think we should normalize people that truly know they don’t wanna have kids,” she said. “I don’t think it should be for everyone just because society tells you.”<\/p>\n Of course, she loves kids to a point – after all, who doesn’t? “I love children, I love my friends’ children, I’m a great aunt… but it was never my dream.”<\/p>\n She said that part of the reason she doesn’t want kids is so she can focus on her country music career. “My dream was to pursue country music and live on the road,” she explained. “And I know that some people do that and they’re great at it, but it’s never been my dream.”<\/p>\nVideos by Wide Open Country<\/h2>\n
