15-year-old Daria Serkov was killed after she was struck by a truck while riding a Citi Bike in Manhattan, New York. Now, her grieving family is asking for privacy as they mourn the devastating loss of their beloved daughter. They are also remembering Daria as a loving, energetic girl who brought joy to everyone around her.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Daria Serkov was out with a 13-year-old friend when the tragedy occurred. The two girls were riding a rental bike called a \u201cCiti Bike\u201d on 14th Street on the Lower East Side when they were hit by a truck.<\/p>\n

Daria died at the scene. The 13-year-old girl survived the accident but was taken to hospital with injuries.<\/p>\n

The family\u2019s plea following Daria\u2019s death<\/h3>\n

Now Daria\u2019s family has chosen to speak out about the difficult time following her death. In a statement, the family writes that they are experiencing \u201cunimaginable\u201d grief and they ask to be left alone so they can process the loss together.<\/p>\n

The family also shares that Daria, whom they lovingly called Dasha, was full of love, joy, and energy. They described her as someone who cared deeply about others.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur beloved Daria, our Dasha, was full of love, joy, and energy,\u201d the family writes in a post on the fundraising site GoFundMe, according to\u00a0New York Post.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe cared deeply for others and brought warmth to the lives of those around her. Her generous spirit and loving heart made her deeply cherished. We will carry her light, her compassion, and the love she gave us in our hearts always.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cOur family is living through an unimaginable loss,\u201d the statement reads. \u201cWe ask for privacy and space to grieve together, to honor Dasha\u2019s life, and to begin processing a sorrow that words cannot express.\u201d<\/p>\n

Raising money for the family<\/h3>\n

Despite the difficult situation, the family also wants to thank everyone who has shown their support. They extend a special thank you to those who attended the memorial on Saturday evening and to all who have continued to keep Daria in their thoughts.<\/p>\n
